One of the important literary achievement of Allahabad Nagar Nigam is Prayag Library. The library was established on 27 February, 1980 at 22/30, Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Civil Lines by the then Administrator Hon'bl Shri P. D. Chaturvedi. However the history of Prayag Library is 50 years old. It has a vast collection of old books and magazines. In the year 2003 a grand function was organised in the library premises with the consent of the then Municipal Commissioner Shri Shripati and Hon'bl Mayor Dr. K. P. Srivastava which gave the library vast publicity.
This library has nearly 4878 english books and 2333 hindi books. The library has a membership base of 273 lifetime or permanent members who are charged Rs. 100/- as membership fees. The library subscribes to nearly 20-22 magazines.

| Nagar NIgam has been ensuring plantation of trees in various areas and road sides of city for keeping the environment free from pollution under Operation GREEN since the year 2001. This work is being done by Manav Samta Parishad (an Non Governmental Organisation for the last five years. This NGO is also responsible for maintaining thess plants as well. |

| An animal caracass disposal center has been established on 'Karamat Ki Chowki'. This project has led to disposal of all animal caracass of municipal limits. This project is beneficial from pollution point of view and has also helped in eliminating air accidents due to birds. |

| In order to ensure supply of fresh meat and to stop pollution due to open air slaugther houses modernisation of Ataala Slaughter House was done. This has led to financial gains as well as advancement of Butcher community. This slaughter house is also carrying out export of meat. |

| With a motive to put a cap on the rising number of illegal meat shops and to make available quality meat to citizens the meat market on Katju Road was constructed. It has 96 meat shops. |
